Script Reading Service

Our Script Reading Service (SRS), is our periodical opportunity to receive unsolicited scripts for the potential of further development, programming or other opportunities.

We accept script submissions from Black writers in the UK (people of African and Caribbean origin). In line with our policy, we aim to have writer’s scripts read by a team of industry professionals.

  • Talawa’s New Work team is dedicated to identifying and cultivating new Black writers. Our Script Reading Service is designed to ensure that all scripts from writers, wherever they may be on their writing journeys, are given the attention they deserve.

  • This entry point allows new works to feed into Talawa’s Introductory Writers’ Group, Talawa Firsts and the company’s standalone commissions, all of which have nurtured talent including Natasha Marshall (Half Breed), Sian Carter (Running with Lions), and Cal-I Jonel (There's a Mouse in the Kitchen).

Within the two week submission window, Black heritage writers across the UK are invited to submit new scripts for consideration. This initiative streamlines all Talawa’s writing programmes into a unified process, ensuring that every script receives attention and consideration.

YOU CAN SUBMIT YOUR SCRIPT USING THE LINK BELOW. THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS MIDDAY ON FRIDAY 19 DECEMBER 2025.
