Free workshops

Are you an artist looking for ways to GROW your artform?

We are excited to announce a free programme of creative activity as part of Talawa MAKE.

This is a call for emerging Black playwrights, actors, theatre makers, directors, dancers, artists and photographers across London to grow their craft with Talawa Theatre Company in association with Camden People’s Theatre.

These workshops are an opportunity to explore experimental and contemporary theatre making techniques with some of the leading artists in the field.

An opportunity for emerging Black artists who have never worked with Talawa to meet, to be creative and grow their craft.

Sat 8th April: SOUND – Nwando Ebizie

Nwando Ebizie is an experimental performance artist, musician, producer, DJ and dancer from Nigeria who has lived, performed and played all over the world. Her work eschews boundaries, but incorporates her training in classical piano, electronic music production (British Academy of New Music), circus, aerial arts (Circomedia), physical theatre, and various forms of dance, with her interests in multi-disciplinary work and ritual performance | @nwando

Sat 6th May: THE WORLD – HighRise

HighRise are a theatre collective who seek to spark conversation and build bridges between forgotten communities, by representing the rhythm of the streets. Their style is energetic, physical, innovative, poetic and colloquial – using Hip Hop & Grime music on top of extreme play as a vehicle to tell honest stories from multicultural backgrounds | @HighRise_UK

About Talawa

Talawa is the UK’s Primary Black led touring theatre company, and was founded in response to the lack of creative opportunities for Black actors and the marginalisation of Black peoples from cultural processes.
