Spoken Word Competition
Spoken Word Competition: Calling emerging poets, rappers and spoken word artists
Talawa has an opportunity for young poets to perform before our new show, Bite Your Tongue.
We are looking for under 25s to write (or present an existing piece) of poetry around the theme: Bite Your Tongue. You can write about freedom of speech, political correctness, an inability to speak out, anything that comes to your mind when you think about the phrase Bite Your Tongue. We’re looking for artists who can create an atmosphere through words; the piece should take the audience on a journey.
The maximum length of the piece should be no longer than 5 minutes.
How to apply Send your poem as a document or a video of you performing it to gail@talawa.com, entitled ‘TYPT: 17, Poetry Competition’
Deadline Monday 28 August, 6pm
Performances Thursday 31 August, Friday 1 or Saturday 2 September 2017, 7.30pm at Hackney Showroom
