The information below relates to the 2020 postponed production of RUN IT BACK. That production was postponed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown and closure of theatres in the UK.

16th March 2020

After consulting with staff, producers, creatives and artists, and in light of the worsening coronavirus pandemic, Talawa Theatre Company has made the difficult decision to postpone scheduled performances of Run it Back and associated activities for the foreseeable future.

It wasn’t an easy decision. We feel it’s the right decision.

We are in unprecedented times. Like our colleagues and artists, in the UK and around the world, we believe that precautionary measures must outweigh the desire to present our opening production of the year.

We know everyone involved has put in a huge amount of work and we hope that some of the events can still be held later in the year.

We regard the wellbeing of our audiences, staff, cast and creative family as our main priority.

  • We intend to support all staff contracted to work on Run It Back in line with our ethos
  • We will be working to reschedule the opening of the Talawa Studio and hope to share Run it Back with audiences in the future
  • We will also refund all advance bookings for Run it Back.

We’ve done a lot of work to get Run it Back to this stage. It’s truly gutting to be in this situation, especially as it was set to be such a fantastic production.

We give thanks to everyone for working with us this far.

Talawa Theatre Company will continue to build towards a renewed and confident future.

Our development activities during this uncertain period will be available in the coming weeks. We encourage all artists and creatives who want to engage with us to check our website for details on these forthcoming projects and ways to be involved.

Thank you – stay safe and well.

With love from the Talawa team.
