Talawa Stories: Three new audio dramas BBC Radio 4

In May 2021, listeners to BBC Radio 4 heard three original plays by by three promising young writers.

Three new audio dramas from Talawa Theatre Company and feral inc. for BBC Radio 4

Sian Davila, Charles Entsie and Roberta Livingston worked with Talawa Theatre Company and producers feral inc. to create showcase audio dramas, broadcast to coincide with Talawa Theatre Company’s 35th anniversary.

In Running with Lions a death challenged a British-Caribbean family as each of them experienced their unique reactions to loss. Sian Davila’s script was directed by Talawa Theatre’s Artistic Director, Michael Buffong. 

Charles Entsie tackled masculinity and identity in his play NSA, directed by Jade Lewis. 

Roberta Livingston offered a comedic exploration of class and gender in Precious Little Thing, directed by Anastasia Osei-Kuffour.

With cast members including Sharon D Clarke, Lydia West, Don Gilet, Jocelyn Jee Esien, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Don Warrington, Alfred Enoch, Idris Debrand, Tuyen Do and Jacoba Williams - Talawa Stories provided atmospheric audio dramas for audiences.
