Overview
Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and Talawa Theatre Company proudly present Sian Carter's Running With Lions
Running With Lions - A family drama of love, loss and hope.
‘Joshy is gone. No badda bawl an disappear, yuh cyaan bring him back.’
Following the death of a loved one, a British-Caribbean family struggles to come to terms with their grief. Isolated by their generational beliefs and challenges to their faith and mental health, they live between the things they do and do not say.
Running With Lions is the first play from exciting new writing talent Sian Carter and will be directed by Michael Buffong, Talawa Theatre Company’s Artistic Director (Guys & Dolls; King Lear; All My Sons, Talawa Theatre Company/Royal Exchange).
Sian Carter's relationship with Talawa began with a script workshop and one-to-one with our New Work Producer in summer 2020. Sian then submitted an early draft of Running With Lions to our Script Reading Service, with the story being produced as an audio play by Talawa and feral inc. for a BBC Radio 4 Commission (May 2021).
Running With Lions is a Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and Talawa Theatre Company co-production.
