With an alarm clock set to an hour, and in a few words and lots of stillness, we meet an ordinary woman, in an extraordinary crisis that could change her life forever. Using naturalism, singing, music and beat poetry, babirye debuts her first ever commissioned play about the re discovery of all of one’s self at twilight.

babirye bukilwa formerly known as Vanessa Babirye is a multidisciplinary talent. Most recently seen returning to the National Theatre stage opposite Cate Blanchett and directed by Katie Mitchell, her notable work includes the Royal Court, the Hampstead, The Nottingham playhouse, the Arcola, Soho, The Leicester Curve, BBC, Channel 4 and the ICA. Known internationally as half of the hilarious duo 'ACKEE & SALTFISH' created by Cecile Emeke, babiryre has been noted as one out of ten female creatives by the guardian Newspaper in 2018. babirye co-founded the award nominated podcast 'SISTREN' with a documentary about the trio having its London premiere at the Shaw theatre this July as part of its PRIDE season after a sold-out New York screening last Autumn. A commissioned playwright and a published poet (SISTA!, THE COLOUR OF MADNESS) babirye joined the BBC London voices writing group aiming to amplify the Black British working-class queer experience.

Miranda Cromwell's directing credits include as co-director Death of a Salesman (Young Vic Theatre), as director Half Breed (Talawa Theatre/Soho Theatre/Edinburgh Fringe Festival/India tour), Magic Elves, Hey Diddle Diddle, Sense (Bristol Old Vic), Pigeon English (Edinburgh Fringe Festival/Bristol Old Vic), The Rest of Your Life (Bush Theatre) and Death and Treason (Bristol Old Vic/UK tour). As Associate Director to Marianne Elliott her credits include Company (Gielgud Theatre) and Angels in America (National Theatre/Neil Simon Theatre, Broadway) and to Sally Cookson on A Monster Calls (Old Vic/ Bristol Old Vic) and to Melly Still on Coram Boy (Colston Hall). As Assistant Director her credits include, Strife, An Enemy of the People (Chichester Festival Theatre), hang (Royal Court Theatre), and Swallows and Amazon and Far Away (Bristol Old Vic).
