Can Love be Black and White?

Long Time No See is the story of a white working-class woman named Freda who marries Billy, a hopeful young Jamaican whom she meets in the ska and reggae filled dance halls of 1960's Manchester.

Freda and Billy have a son, Devon, who has learning difficulties. On the day of Billy's funeral, Freda's estranged brother Alex, forces his way back into their lives and unearths 40 years of buried resentments, racial hatred and painful family secrets.

Produced by Talawa Theatre Company, Long Time No See is a powerful new play written by Grant Buchanan Marshall that will challenge views on inter-racial relationships and reveal the possible consequences, of love across the colour line.

"Thoughtful character portraits bring fresh shape to the familiar argument that the most powerful scars of violence are those that cannot be seen."
