Girls at Edinburgh
22nd – 27th August 2017
Talawa Theatre Company, HighTide and Soho Theatre present Theresa Ikoko’s award-winning GIRLS, part of British Council Edinburgh Showcase 2017.
Tuesday 22 – Sunday 27 August at 12pm, Pleasance 2, Pleasance Courtyard, 60 Pleasance, Edinburgh, EH8 9TJ
Three girls. Best friends forever. All the big issues: love, sex and religion…
But when they’re kidnapped from home, their world is turned upside down. Hope and despair blur, jokes and fights become one, and the only hash tag that matters now is survival.
Girls is a funny and fiercely passionate new play about enduring friendship, and explores the voices and stories behind the trending hashtags and headlines that so quickly become yesterday’s news. This is a story of an enduring friendship, of love, strength and girlhood.
Theresa Ikoko’s Girls is a winner of the Alfred Fagon Award (2015) and joint winner of the George Devine Award (2016).
Theresa is a Talawa Writers’ Programme Playwright.
