Retrace: Identity and Heritage
A cross-curricular resource for KS3/4
Retrace explores cultural exchange between the UK and other countries linked by the Transatlantic Slave Trade and Colonialism. The pack uses archive material from V&A Theatre Collections dating from 1833.
- Examine the impact of these exchanges on our society and individual identities
- Make connections between this heritage and the way students talk, move and the music they listen to
- Discover evidence of the resourcefulness, humour, and rich culture produced when communities meet
Retrace links to the KS3/4 English, History, Geography, Citizenship, Music, Religion and PSHE curricula with opportunities to also address learning objectives in D&T, Art & Design, and Modern Languages.
Produced for Trading Faces - Recollecting Slavery project.
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
