The last play reading in our series Flipping the Script is Brixton Rock, 20th July at the Young Vic. Directed by Clint Dyer, written by Kolton Lee and adapted from Alex Wheatle's novel of the same name. The piece follows a bunch of wily teenagers as they party and dabble in drugs and petty crime. Set in 1981, Brixton Rock gives a fascinating snapshot of Black London in the early eighties. There are only a few tickets left. Book now. www.youngvic.org

Creative to the Core

Feedback from the Creative to the Core conference at Lambeth Academy on 26th May was very positive. It was well attended by artists, young people, teachers, practitioners and facilitators.

Lisa Bogle from Richard Atkins Primary School said, "It was great to see the work that some of our pupils have been engaged in. The idea of starting small and developing a whole school approach is practical and do-able. You have inspired me to look for partnerships, do more and encourage others to do more!"

Photo: Richard H Smith

Livestreaming of Flipping the Script

Once again we are streaming readings (live) from the Young Vic. These are some of the best scripts coming through our literary department – and the first to be read will be Winsome's Daughter by Faith Miller, tonight at 7 pm. It is a hard hitting play that shows the fiery relationship between a carer and a teenage girl in care. It’s brilliant. Please watch the reading and share your thoughts live in our chatroom. Just click on the livestream button on our homepage. The play reading starts at 7pm. Naomi Lewis plays the daughter, Orlessa Altass plays the social worker and it's directed by Anthony Ekundayo Lennon.
