Head of Development
Join us as as our Head of Development.
We are looking for an individual with the proven ability or potential to be an outstanding fundraiser to lead our Development team as our new Head of Development.
You will join our Senior Management Team, driving and shaping development strategy with our Joint Chief Executives (Artistic Director and Executive Director) in the context of our overall organisational strategy.
Talawa enjoys a company culture where everyone takes responsibility for fundraising across all our programmes from community engagement to the creation of new work, recently including Talawa Stories on BBC Radio 4, and the critically acclaimed Run it Back. Our ambitions in the next five years include a rapid growth of our profile and scope, building on our position and reputation as the UK’s outstanding Black British touring theatre company, particularly the context of the last 12-18 months.
We are partners with major regional and London theatres, expanding our successful digital work, and build on our community engagement / artistic development / new work pipeline. The role will build on a strong base of Arts Council England (ACE) and trusts and foundation support of around £600k per annum, with the majority coming from ACE National Portfolio funding.
The role will leverage considerable scope to expand our support by building innovative wealth networks with high earning ethnically diverse people.

We can be flexible about how this role can work for you and can offer additional training and mentoring, contingent on experience. You will be supported to achieve the main duties set out in the Job Description by an Executive Director who takes ultimate responsibility at Board level for fundraising and a Development Officer.
